NBC ran a special best of Mike Meyers on Saturday Night. Here's one of all time favorites:

The Walken skits are all great. Call me old school, but the first thing that comes to mind are some of the old Ackroyd commercials (John Cleese once said Dan Ackroyd was about the only US comedian he truly respected, or something to that effect): bassomatic (great for the fishingfolk on the site) Julia Child (for the foodees): Sorry about the hulu links, MC - I had to try them each a few times before they'd play right for me, so they're definitely still dealing with some kinks...

One of my favorites Sorry, could not embed it. It helps if you know who Harry Caray was.

One of the best recent skits I've seen in a long time.

It is not in the nature of politics that the best men should be elected. The best men do not want to govern their fellowmen. -- George MacDonald

I can't find it anywhere online but the Buck Henry "Douche Bag" sketch was at one time the pinnacle of cutting edge comedy for the "Not Ready for Prime Time Players"

I liked the original cast best, but I think the best skit was the Motivational Speaker during the Mike Meyers era.

Motivational Speaker is one of Chris Farley's best This is probably my other favorite Chris Farley skit:

Justin Timberlake hosted SNL last weekend and the creative team that gave us the classic "D*ck in a Box" added their latest installment, "Motherlover":

"Forest 101: These big wood stick things are called trees. The big rocks are called mountains, and the little rocks are their babies." Elliott from Open Season

I watched a good portion of the 40th anniversary special and I was reminded of how hilarious some of these were . I don't even remember the melding of episodes I actually watched on broadcast TV and those sketches I watched on the computer. uhh.gif For #1 I just have to go with More Cowbell clown.gif (Must be outstanding if one of our NWHikers chose it for a name!) Group tie for #2 with Motivational Speaker and Alec Baldwin/NPR's Delicious Dish, Eddie Murphy's Mr. Rogers......and soooo many more. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/best-of-snl-sketches

The Motivational Speaker IS a great skit. But I've long maintained that if the only item on youtube was More Cowbell, creating youtube would have been a worthy endeavor.

Keep Calm and Carry On? Heck No. Stay Excited and Get Outside!
