.....leaving me wanting to return over and over in what ever capacity that may be, even if one day my knees are too old and I can only see the mountains from my porch.

With a group that size, I can't imagine how there wasn't a sing along. Please tell me there was a sing along.

Of course there was!
We started with

And Matt is too modest to tell everyone of his heroic efforts in pulling said jeans-wearing-dude out of a posthole that was up to his armpits...and how the dude's friends were nearly to the bottom waiting for him...if Matt hadn't been around that guy's buddies would have had to slog back up to pull their friend out. The jeans guy said Matt "saved my life." Yea Matt!

wamtngal,
Obvioulsy soaked jeans guy was inexperienced.....yet his buddies left him behind! You gotta wonder....wtf were these guys thinking?
Thanks to Matt, soaked jeans guy survived. I wonder if he goes out into the mountains with his "buddies" again.
For K and me, we had a great time, and enjoyed meeting ya'll....and hope to see you on the trail again sometime.

Wow, you have got some great pictures. Looks like an incredible time. I would love to do the Persis to Index traverse sometime. Do you think it would be better or summer to do. Awesome trip. I'm jealous!!!

Thanks Matt for organizing a fantastic trip, it was a great group to get out with. Sixteen people--new record (until I do a TNAB).

Goes in winter or summer; loper has done it twice, she says to camp by the tarns ont the other side of the saddle between the large flat summit and "Persindex" (Persindex being the rightmost of the three pointed peaks that are just to the left of the flat summit as viewed from Persis). Summer would avoid any avalanche hazard but would be more scrambling across boulder fields instead of easy booting on snow. With a full pack and good snow conditions, would probably be less effort on snow.
I want to do the entire traverse, it's really gorgeous up there, especially in fall. Tempted to try it as a day trip.

Finally getting around to adding LOTS to the plethora of Persis pics
Thanks Matt, and everyone else, for the trip! That was a blast!
I shoulda worn a hat though - aloe vera is my tincture of choice today for the sunburn; I've put more emphasis on it today by wearing a red shirt

Maybe we can do the whole traverse when we can actually see the dirt?

Thanks for the great TR & pics everyone!! I almost joined this trip as I had been to Persis last yr. (or the yr. before?) & enjoyed it....but after hearing about the shoulder-deep postholing on the way down, maybe it's not a terrible loss that I missed it.

Matt, you forgot the golden rule (according to us). You're supposed to contact us see if we have any trips planned for the same weekend you are going to do something spectacular like this. That way you could have postponed the trip until we were able to join you .
