I agree. What struck me most was that seemingly obscure information (that Rainier's fumaroles are non-toxic) was made use of with such success. Just goes to show that no information is useless - if one is intelligent enough to make use of it. Also, I never knew about a 'lake' in the middle of Rainier! Edit: Tazz, I forgot to thank you for the link; it was a fascinating read. up.gif

What a great trip report and I am glad they both made it down safely. What an ingenious way to melt snow. I hope if I get in a situation like that that I will have the same presence of mind.
