DAWN Patrol - Barefoot on Bandera
I couldn't join TNAB last night, (I rarely can) but I usually get out in the morning early for Dawn Patrol! So after a quick call to Steve last night as they were almost down to the cars to get a report on conditions, I headed up there this morning. Brian and I arrived at the trail head at 6 am. Been a while since Brian has been on a hike, let alone one with 3000 foot elevation gain, so we took our time. smile.gif You could taste the heat as the warmth started rising. I could imagine summer! The snow was great booting up and the glissades back down were even better, thanks for the tracks! Couple of pics

I can't wait to get out more now that the great melt-out has begun!

Ah finally. Time to post pics of my own. Bandera allowed me my fastest glicades yet! Even faster (though shorter) than Mt Adams. up.gif winksmile.gif up.gif winksmile.gif "Bonzaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" Amazing views from up there incl. the silouette of the Seattle skyline against the orange sliver of Puget Sound. Thanks folks winksmile.gif Hope y'all had some fun r & r at the bar & grill afterwards.

Sunset is an all day process.

Nice shots! I was driving back across 520 after Norse just as the sun was setting. Beautiful sunset, made me want to turn around and drive up to Bandera too!

Unfortunately I've been working late. I did save a couple of people on Tiger.

A thousand thank yous to all responsible for the chow wrestling, counseling and encouragement necessary to get Cubbie down trail. As I went down without seeing Cubbie I ran faster and faster worrying that she might be hurt or frightened in the parking lot. After calling to an unresponsive Cubbie shaped rock at the dark trail head panic set in and I headed back up trail. I enountered Malachi and Lynda on the way back up but they had not seen a furry faced dog so I kept going up. Next meeting Larry and little Digger - apparently Digger deserves the credit for finding Cubbie ... at that point it was a group effort and not exactly easy AGAIN many thanks - a tribute to what a great group TNAB is. After meeting up with the first half of the group and Cubbie I started down again... Then we heard the blood curdling scream followed by Dude's panicked voice, "Tisha! Tisha!" As a unit we turned around and headed back up the trail, fearing the worst we marched until we met up with the somewhat breathless but otherwise healthy group. On the way BACK DOWN the trail I thought, "hmm" I am becoming very familiar with this section of trail this evening. Again many thanks for all who helped in the Cubbie turnaround. cool.gif
