The Park is a 3-minute short by Robert, filmed over Labor Day during a 3-day backpack to one of our favorite parks on Mt Rainier. It was mostly shot on our only down day when we explored new areas in the upper reaches of the park. While the Mountain was out during our travel days, the top was obscured most the time we were camped there. Both sunrises also started out with less than stellar color. But, one thing we've discovered in the mountains is that a little patience can sometimes pay off in a big way. And so we ended up with the most spectacular shows we've ever witnessed on the Mountain. Robert captured a lot of the drama using timelapse.

My buddy and I backpacked into some of Washington's most beautiful spots and took some aerial footage from a GOPRO camera mounted on a RC plane we built. Check it out and let us know what you think! Enjoy!

Unique perspective on some well-known spots! I'm curious if the "rubber sheet" effect is straight off the camera or a result of post-processing, most likely anti-shake stabilization.

For sure! I think you're probably referring to the dreaded "jello effect" that affects the GoPro sensor at high vibrations, like a plane engine. We've tried a number of things to help reduce it, also in post-production. It got better throughout the year, but it's still something we've gotta work on for next year. Thanks for watching! biggrin.gif

360 view of alpine meadow at 5000', Church Mountain My first video on Vimeo, from a couple of weeks ago. Any advice as to how to edit the video so that it's not so shaky would be appreciated. Or maybe it's not possible to make it smoother. Got to remember to bring the tripod in future.

I've been watching some 1950-era mountain films by Bob & Ira Spring and enjoyed this moment - excellent staged snow bridge collapse.
There is a cut just before the fall which makes me think the climber had to work a bit to get it to fail. After this clip, the film goes on to show how the climber uses prusiks to get back up to the lip.

We recently did a 5-day backpack on the west side of the Teton Crest ... awesome country. Here's a short video Robert made of our trip.

For any of you who missed the wildflowers at Rainier this year ...
In late June, shortly before our trip to Alaska, we headed up to Mount Rainier to catch the wildflower show. We were not disappointed! Although not quite at peak bloom there was still plenty to enjoy as we walked the trails around Paradise. The day began in sunshine, but as it often happens at Rainier, the clouds rolled in and obscured the volcano. None the less, it was an awesome day on the Mountain. Unfortunately we didn't get out much this year on backpacks for a sundry of reasons, but did head for the Olympics for a few car camping/day trips in the spring and fall. Robert shot and edited 2 short films of our trips to the Hoh with his new Panasonic GH5. Thought you guys might enjoy them. Hopefully, next year we'll be healthier and more productive.
