It was another Memorial Day Weekend trip to the cabin for us to spend time with Dani's family. Between looking for morels, games of dominos and poker, cooking, eating and entertaining our niece Taylor, Dani and I managed one short hike this time.
Some descriptions put this at 4 miles R/T with 1,300 feet of gain. Other sources say it is only 3.5 miles R/T with 900 feet of gain. I'll call it 4 and 1,300 just to make myself think I did more
Jasper talked his 'Aunt' Brigitte into joining us. She is a young 16 years old, and only puts up with Jasper's youthful antics because he is family.
The trail is not too steep, but it climbs steadily above the Naches River.

Lots of flowers were out this day:

We arrived at the top to see views down the north side of the Rock:

On our way down Dani spotted some bones:

We also passed by the famous tree-rock combination:

The dogs needed a cool down at the car as it had cleared up and was quite warm:
Cooldown
During the 15 minute drive back to the cabin the clouds gathered again, and by the time we got back it was dumping. Just in time for me to cook the chicken dinner, on the barbecue. Outside Luckily I had packed my Seattle Sombrero. I may have looked like a dork, but at least my head was dry
The dogs needed a nap afterwards:
Sharing the couch
Some non-hiking photos from the weekend at the cabin. A few I like:
Aunt D and Taylor fishing from the loft Taylor using her magic wand to turn Jasper into a frog Taylor turning her magic powers on her Uncle Strike a pose Oops! Get Jasper down! Too cool All these photographs make me weary Hummingbird Hummingbirds

Looks like a good time - thanks for sharing it!
That's a pretty steep look down on the Naches River.
Can't wait to show my daughter the Jasper in a tree pic, she's going to get a kick out of that! Glad to see his paw's healed up.
