I had a few hours for a quick hike on Sunday morning, and had planned to shoot up to Mt. Spokane. The road is now passable, and I'd been watching the snow melt off that south face. But, when I awoke it was pouring and the mountain was hidden behind a slate-gray wall of clouds. As I headed east on the freeway I could see Mica peak and the hills surrounding Liberty Lake clearly, so I switched courses.
This is a neat little woodsy hike. In the interest of time - and because I was soaked to the bone - I hiked to the falls and back, 6 miles round trip. (The trail continues into the woods and loops back to the trailhead - adds another 1.5 miles) There is a sign warning of severe trail erosion, but I found the trail to the falls to be in fine condition.
