So today we decided to try and get to Blanca Lake. I guess its still a bit to early in the season, since we hit massive snow only about halfway up. I would not recommend anyone try this hike unless your ready to crawl under and over trees and hike about two miles in from the trailhead.
Our goal today was to just check on the trail we really did not expect to make it all the way, I personally was more focused on trying to figure out how the heck to use my new cannon SLR. Thanks to my buddy I was able to take some cool shots.
After getting to about the 3000ft elevation we decided to save the hike for a more clear day we could better enjoy so we headed to Eagle falls to get some shots and then out to Index road and up a muddy jeep path. Fun day overall I got some cool pix. Next time I think I'll plan on making it an overnighter because I hear it is pretty nice in Late August and early September.

Great shots of asphalt waterfall. Where exactly was your final parking spot for your Blanca Lake Recon?

Were you able to drive all the way to the trail head, and which route did you drive to get there?
Fascinating pictures.

No, can't drive to the trail head. FS63 is washed out 1.3 miles from the Blanca Lake trail head. Lot's of trees down before washout, this add's maybe an additional half mile road walk to the trail head. Lot's more trees down on the trail. Other trails affected by the washout on FS63 are bald eagle, north fork skykomish, passcreek, quartscreek, westcady ridge..all 3.5 miles from washout. FS 63 is easy to get to, via Beckler River road. Beckler River road over Jack's Pass is in great shape with few potholes

We were only able to make it about one mile before the washout, there were way to many trees accross the road and after attempting to clear them we were faced with another set of trees. Honestly its not a bad walk from where the trees are down to the washout, however I do not think anyone will ever be parking in the main lot for a number of years to come. The washout is probably another mile from the trail head so in all plan on hiking another one to two miles just to reach the trailhead. It is sad, but anyone can do it just get a little earlier start than you usually would.
