Next week thinking about going to Frosty Pass and the Ladies Pass via Wildhorse Creek. Was going to go Spider Gap Buck Creek Pass loop (and may still) but concerned about possible smoke. Any recent info on Frosty Pass/Ladies Pass trail conditions, bugs, number of people back there, use by horse packers, etc.? Or on relative merits of Grace Lakes, Lake Margaret, Lake Mary, Upper Florence Lake, Lake Edna, Lake Alice? Thanks! MattWittPhotography.com

There have been at least three TR on the area in the past two weeks. If you go in from Wildhorse there are only a few small trees across the trail on the way to Frosty. After that you will basically be above tree line so no downfalls at all. Trail tread to Ladies Pass is good. I saw two parties from White Pine to Mary Lake. None after that except for a guy with five children coming up Chatter Creek?? No bugs to speak of. No horses. Just visit the lakes that look good to you. Most are visible from the trails.
