Matt, Sooo glad it all worked out and you are okay. It's a blessed thing. Terrible situation as it was, it also reminds me to AWAYS carry a first aid kit and a whistle. Btw, excellent pictures. up.gif

While I certainly mean no disrespect for bringing up past tragedies, God rest your soul Edd. I think we all know what *can* happen out there. Thank Goodness our man Matt came away from this one ok. Yes do heal quickly Matt. I'm looking forward to more pictures from you and your travels. Tom

Thanks for the honest TR and the great pics. Sure glad you're ok! I added some labels to "Teebone Ridge to Dome Peak" panorama.

Please don't get hurt too bad before we have a chance to hike together (afterwards is okay winksmile.gif ). Great trip report and thanks for including the picture of the trout to salivate over.

Medical update: Looks like I probably cracked one of my ribs (non-displaced fracture). There's one spot that has remained with a deep ache after all the surface scrapes and bruises have begun to clear up. It doesn't hurt for breathing, but it does hurt if I press anywhere on the rib, and hurts sharply if I cough or laugh or sneeze. Unfortunately, it also hurts if I try to push or pull anything with my left arm (since some of the muscles for the shoulder run down the side by the rib), which might limit my climbing capabilities for a while. I had an x-ray taken, but the results are currently unavailable in the mail somewhere between the radiologist and my primary care physician.

Good luck not laughing for a while. I remember that drill from a cracked rib long ago.

Matt, I lost five ribs to cancer some years ago. I know what you're going through pain wise. Best not to push it. Let that rib(s) heal proper before you try anymore death defying feats of human endurance....... Glad to hear you're on the mend.

Talking about playing through the injury, great sunset shot after the injury. I have broken ribs twice in the last four years, both times, sleeping and coughing was the worst. Within two weeks I was fine for hiking, though I did not do so with a backpack. Best wishes for a full recovery and still a decent hiking season.
