I'm in Quilcene now. I hiked up Tunnel Creek today and placed OLY # 4 on Valhalla Peak Report later maybe.

Oly the 4th is now on Valhalla Peak. bobbi, There was some bear grass but not much and no snow. If anyone heads up there send me a pm so I can give you the location. It is hidden not at the top but near the top. It was a nice day with some sun and no rain. Due to the clouds swirling around there were just fleeting glimpses of Mt. Constance. I will add a picture or two later maybe.

Nice location I'm assuming what you're calling Valhalla is pt. 5345. Where might one find names of such sub-peaks? I hear a lot of these sub-peak names on NWH, but I don't see these names listed on Caltopo, Joey's Gmap4, or hard copy maps like Custom Correct.

I was wondering the same thing. I believe some of the peaks are named in the latest edition of the climbers guide but I don't know about Valhalla. I think I read somewhere about a sign up there with the name on it. Who named it I have no idea

here's a story about Valhalla Peak as told to a friend: A man had a yacht named Valhalla and when he sold his beloved boat he kept the wooden nameplate that had graced the stern of his boat. He put the nameplate on top of the unnamed peak, because he loved that peak almost as much as he had loved his yacht. Over the years either sign hating hikers or the Forest Service removed the sign, but the name Valhalla stuck. photo by IanB, taken about 15 years or so ago
