Facing an empty house this week I headed up to one of my favorite places. There were a zillion cars at all the I-90 trailheads but only a couple trucks at this one. The road is getting rutty but the slide is fine. A couple nice views from the road.

Once on the road I met a couple ole boys with rods an reels, I asked if the lakes were thawed and they said no but they saw a 400lb bear in the meadow to the left of the trail. The trail was in pretty good shape with the only snow a little above L. Laura then as you neared Lillian. Here I met a couple hikers who had been to Rachel which they said was snow free. I soon arrived at Lillian and saw that everyone was accessing the route straight across the lake.

After awhile i became concerned about developing 3rd degree sunburn so headed down. On the way down I met a guy who asked me to not steal his bike and I agreed it was safe on the way down.
