Facing an empty house this week I headed up to one of my favorite places. There were a zillion cars at all the I-90 trailheads but only a couple trucks at this one. The road is getting rutty but the slide is fine. A couple nice views from the road.

Once on the road I met a couple ole boys with rods an reels, I asked if the lakes were thawed and they said no but they saw a 400lb bear in the meadow to the left of the trail. eek.gif The trail was in pretty good shape with the only snow a little above L. Laura then as you neared Lillian. Here I met a couple hikers who had been to Rachel which they said was snow free. I soon arrived at Lillian and saw that everyone was accessing the route straight across the lake.

Crossed myself and followed, solid as a rock. The meadows and lakes were mostly snow covered with a few short sections of route and cairns down.gif sticking out.

After awhile i became concerned about developing 3rd degree sunburn so headed down. On the way down I met a guy who asked me to not steal his bike and I agreed it was safe on the way down.

No problem now you do not even need to scramble over the rock and Magnums route will go to the summit, nice glissade from the col. up.gif

Not only that, but with clearly melted spots showing. That is what they call "cojones" right there.
