There are patches of snow but nothing of any significance. Mosquitoes and a few flies at Easy Pass. The bugs could be a lot worse during mornings and evenings. The wildflowers are ripping especially on the national park side of the pass.

YB: What is the creek crossing like? Is snowmelt a factor at this time of year?

There's a nice, solid bridge over Granite Creek near the trailhead. There are a few small trees for a bridge over the creek just before the trail enters the first big open avalanche area. Creek crossings were not an issue.
