I made a quick jaunt up the Buck Creek trail to the pass and a little beyond earlier today. The trial was in good shape and the flowers are out in force. Near the pass seems to be a very nice area, with lots of subalpine meadows to explore Here are a few pictures to go along with this very short trip report.

Thanks everybody. Other than the heavy dew it was pretty much as perfect a day as one could ask for.

Thanks for the info on Buck Creek Pass - my two partners & I are planning a trip there in August and were wondering about the trail. We plan to take a few days and do side trips. How are the camp sites about 5 miles in?

Wow oustanding! up.gif I am headed there next week! We plan on doing a loop around with some side trips as well such as image lake. I have never been so it should be a real treat!

This is definitely one the best places in the Cascades. Thanks for the pics-I can't wait to get back out there again!

I forgot to ask-did you take these pics from the trail to High Pass? If so, did you see if the trail up to High Pass is free of snow. I'd like to get up to Traid Lake.

I'd be surprised if Triad Lake wasn't still buried under snow. As far as Buck Creek Pass being one the best places in the Cascades, I'll beg to differ. It can be photogenic (as demonstrated by this TR, nice pics!) but it really pales in comparison to the rest of the area. Just my opinion based on a 5 day loop I did a few years ago (in Spider / out Buck). I was really disappointecd by the limited views at the "Pass", not to mention I found it quite horsey. I see Buck Creek as more a necessary evil if one wants the most direct way to High Pass. I really wish I had come out Napeequa instead of turning around at High Pass and coming out #uck Creek (which I have another name for). hockeygrin.gif

It looked buried from Fortress. Buck Creek Pass, Flower Dome, Liberty Cap, and Helmet Butte were snow free. THe area is sweet, the views from Fortress were good Tom. winksmile.gif
