I talked my wife and youngest daughter into coming with me to Sunrise on Sunday to hike to Mt. Fremont Lookout. They had only three conditions: sleep in until 10:00, breakfast at IHOP, and no complaining from me about pace. (I managed two out of three! )
The Sunrise parking lot was packed when we arrived shortly after 2:00. We started out along the lower Sunrise trail (still a couple of snow patches) and did Sourdough Ridge on the return. The views at the lookout were OK but cloudy. I saw my very first mountain goat but only in retreat. Tons of wildflowers, and cute but hungry and persistent chipmunks and pikas at the lookout.

We enjoyed a late dinner at the now family-friendly Naches Tavern in Greenwater. But do yourself a favor and don't sit anywhere near the men's room!
