After seeing the Hulksters Boulder lake report, and also realizing the ultimate closure of the access road around Spada I thought Id make this hike my first since "ribbing" out. I left the parking lot around 0915 this morning. Mine was the only car. I figured Id be slow as I haven't been out in eight weeks. Well to my surprise I made it to the lake in under two hours. Sorta of works out to two miles per hour. I was pretty happy with that pace (shut up Randy, Stefan, Thomas S. Dicey and the wonder twins hockeygrin.gif ) (please forgive any other speed demons I've missed) The lake was a beautiful place. There were mad made camping spots everywhere. I stayed (for the day) at number 7... Lucky number don't ya know.

On the way back I met some guys coming in. They were going to stay a couple days. I thought Id take a picture of the parking lot as it wont exist to much longer...

On the way home I took a dip in Spada. I went to the same boat launch our adventurers used for their Williamson creek approach. I found some fun picture oppurtunities there.

All in all a beautiful hike and it was nice to get back into the groove.

Looks like a pretty lake. Glad you had prime conditions. up.gif

does anyone know how good the fishing is there?

The top of a mountain is just the place you turn around and head back down.

I spoke to some one who camped over night, he also packed in a raft. He said he was kept catching dolly varden. huh.gif He expressed some frustration having to release all of them.

Now that's a funny story. The poor guy couldn't tell an eastern brook from a Dolly Varden. At least he tried to do the right thing.
