Despite the unfavorable forecast, decided to use the day for my first visit to the Sunrise area of MRNP. 8Buck agreed to risk the weather and joined me for the day.
We made it to the Fremont lookout, then trotted up to Burroughs Plateau (1st Burroughs I guess it is), followed by a visit to the meadow overlook and then a short exploration of the Huckleberry Creek trail.
Mileage for the day estimated to be between 8.2 (educated guess) and 9.1 miles (not-always-reliable gps).
Weather was windy and foggy, with a few isolated & small sun breaks. Temperature ranged from a low of 43 degrees mid-day to 60 degrees when basking in the seldom seen sunshine. We ended up wearing rain gear, hats and gloves to stay warm when we weren't moving, but we saw lots of people in shorts anyway.
Most of you know it's a popular and easy to follow trail, so I'll spare most of the details but will post photos in their chronological order. Cutting to the chase even further: we didn't even get a glimpse of Mt. Rainier today.
