My Mom had just gotten back from 4 months in Haiti and wanted to go hiking so my brother and I took her down by Mt. Adams for a little dayhike up the Indian Heaven trail.
Trail Head
We left Kennewick at 6:30 AM to get an early start on the 3 1/2 hour drive. None of us had been hiking in the Adams area before and we were excited to check it out.
Mom and Todd
After stopping at the ranger station to ask advice on where to go, we decided on the Indian Heaven trail out of Cultus Creek. As we pulled into the parking area at the trail head we were greeted by some misting rain showers, but thankfully they stopped shortly after we started hiking.
Bro's at trailhead
The trail was fairly steep to start and we rested often on the way up. (We're all a little out of shape )
Trail to viewpoint
The trail opened up and ended up having some awesome views... although Adams was socked in. We hiked just past Deep Lake to Cultus lake and stopped to have lunch. Some nasty clouds were rolling in so we decided to head back down to the car.
Nice View
Dang that's a long drop!
Snacking at view spot
We ended up stopping at this little bridge just outside of White Salmon and watched rafters go over this narly little drop off. Was pretty sweet.
