I made a quick trip to the Skyline Divide on Sunday evening and camped on the ridge, mostly to try out some stuff with my new SLR. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get anything too photo worthy since the hike in was nearly completely socked in ("partly sunny" the forecast said ), but the sky began to clear just as the sun set. I also got a spectacular display of clouds and light in the morning as the sun rose. Anyway, the trail is great and I actually missed most of the labor day crowds hiking in late and hiking out early. Be prepared for near or below freezing temperatures at night however, and there is no water on the ridge (if you get to the end of the divide by the chowder ridge, there may be some accessible snow patches left).
Anyway, I have yet to process most of my photos, but here are a few that were obvious keepers:

Beat me to the punch! That's one WICKED cloud! I like the cloud cap over Baker too. Very nice, looks like you're warming up to your new SLR pretty quickly.
Thanks for the compliments, though I think I lucked out a bit in terms of photo subjects through no skill of my own.
I would guess that the interesting cloud formation is caused by the clouds, being pushed by NW winds, "breaking" on Baker like a wave. You can see it more clearly in this panorama:
