Sounds like a fun girls' night out. Lucky you finding so many blueberries.

gorgeous photos PiB !! the photo of Karen happy in the berry meadow is lovely ! so the snow and ice is pretty much gone from the lake, now, is it? I think it's the latest that it's hung on in recent years... I've camped there on August long weekend (first weekend of the month) and there was not a spec of snow around the lake that year.

I'm glad you both had such a good time! It was great seeing both of you before you headed out. I need to get out tomorrow and get me some huckles! up.gif

Glad you had a great trip - great pics - and that's cool about the distant avalanches. I'm hiking in on the 14th (departure in about 7 hrs) and we were hoping to cross paths with you. Bummer that we're a day late - but at least now I don't need to ask the 350 people we'll pass if they are 'you'. biggrin.gif

It was nice though. All night I could hear avalanches crashing down from Shuksan.
It probably was not avalanches, but rather, parts of the drainage tunnels under the Curtis Glaciers breaking loose and being rocketed down the tubes and over the falls. I had the same experience when I was there, but I was there all day, too, so I could see that no avalanches were occurring in the places the noise was originating.

Something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you....... Go and find it. Go!

Sigh, guess I won't be posting any of my photos, you got a better haul than I did. embarassedlaugh.gif Yes, that is a great bear picture. I hear there is a low berry crop this year so if you see this bear stay well away from it, they are very defensive about their berry patches! hockeygrin.gif The kids have never had huckleberries before, I have to say they were a smash hit!

I'm heading up there for Monday and Tuesday, so this report is very timely. Good, too. biggrin.gif Jen, save some berries for me and the wonder dog! suuure.gif Here's the pin-point forecast for that spot: Monday: Sunny, with a high near 72. East wind 6 to 10 mph becoming south. Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. South wind 5 to 9 mph becoming east northeast. Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 74. South wind 6 to 9 mph becoming east northeast. cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif

If you'll note the hump on the back, I think this one is a grizzly. hockeygrin.gif

Exactly. biggrin.gif All kidding aside, great shots. Went out with Elvis to Lake Ann today; I'll let him post the trip report. For a newbie hiker like me, though, it was a darned good workout. Good on you for enforcing the trip limits.

Sadly, right now I'm a poseur. Sigh.

Yes, well, hmmm... Lets just say I had some exposure issues thanks to the nearly full moon. I almost blew the glacier out with a 30 minute exposure! Then I did another set of exposures that I want to try and stack but the moon had dipped too far down in the sky so it was too dark. rolleyes.gif A report will be forthcoming in a few days which will include my Lake Ann photos. wink.gif
