I've always thought the island in Rock Lake was pretty cool looking.

For me, it has to be the island in Island Lake (the one up beyond Boardman).
Island Lake
Besides being kind of neat looking, it fits all of Touron's criteria. I did, in fact, swim over to it, one hot August day, and the water under the little cliff was comfortably deep for diving.
Around on the other side there was almost a beach, low enough anyway so you could have landed a raft, and there was enough space on the island (1/4 acre, maybe) for a fine camp.
Once upon a time, doing so was a thing I used to daydream about, but the idea's sort of faded away over the years.

Comrades,
Our rivers, especially the lower stretches, have many fine islands. I pronounce thread prejudice!

I like the one shaped like a Flying-V guitar (without the neck) on Lila Lake.

You must have missed this

Although it's not in a "lake". Many of them have secluded camp sites and can be fished from.Sanjuans
And speaking of fine islands on lower stretches of rivers. I'll give spencer island. While camping is not allowed, duck hunting is allowed on the north end. Here's a couple of photo's i shot yesterdayspencer island spencer pano
Happy now?

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

The SW end of Square lake has a very cool island...the tip of a big rock way out in the water that is barely big enough to get out of your boat onto.
This lil thing has an entire sq foot or two of area, and your feet get washed over when the wind blows ripples onto the lake. It's hilarious seeing a friend on it because you can't see the rock and it looks like they're standing on water.
Probably much bigger in a low water year, but I haven't caught it during one of those, luckily.

The island in Lake Campbell on Fidalgo Island is kind of neat. It's an island on an island!

I like the little island in Locket Lake. There's a great diving platform on the shore right across from it and it's not a long swim. Just off the side opposite the nearest shore the bottom really drops away and it's a great place to fish.

So I'm staring at an old picture from Lake Ann ( the North Cascades one)
and I start thinking about the possibility of an overnight on the island there.
I thought I remember places to camp at the east side of the lake, but I could be wrong. I doubt anybody has camped on the island, there is really no reason to be out there, of course , thats why it attracts me.
Its not a long hike from the Rainy Pass parking area, so hauling an inflatable and a pack wouldnt be real hard.
The lake itself is in the national forest, not the national park.
Has anybody here placed thier bootprints on this island ?
