Mt Assiniboine is the best ever larch hike. hockeygrin.gif All joking aside larch hikes mean heading to the Canadian Rockies for me. The grand daddy of them all, Lake O'Hara cannot be beat.

Karen, those are fantastic. I especially like the Standish Lookout view.

Go straight up from that island in the Standish viewpoint, see that pointy peak in the distance? That is Mt Assiniboine. This is an easy side trip on the way to Mt Assiniboine. up.gif Layback is right, Blue Lake is an excellent choice to take non-hikers, it is very short and very scenic. Lots of places to explore around too. You'll often see goats there too.
Ooooweeee, look at those awful film prints! winksmile.gif And just who is that handsome fella trying to blend in with the larches with a yellow shirt? wub.gif

Looks like I'm heading to Blue Lake on Saturday! How pretty! Here's a link to Karen's Hike of the Week if any day trippers are heading out.

County Line between Beverly-Fourth Pass and up+over Tooth Saddle is a good one. Pretty close to Seattle too, can be there shade over 2 hrs. There's a few larch just over Stevens but in that location you have to climb WAY high up the ridges before you are particularly close to them. Headlight Basin also good but County Line a bit more peaceful usually.

Green Lake, though they don't get very golden most years.
