what to do when the weather calls for typhoon-remnant rain and wind? take it for granite... or don't, i'm not sure. anyway, i'm sure everyone here has done the trip before (the i90 granite from the pratt lake TH). i just thought i would post some pics. i was pleasantly surprised with the boldness of the reds and oranges in this area and would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to avoid si during the fall months (pre-avy conditions)
stats: 8.6 mi RT 3830' gain 1:20 up, 1:05 down i was feeling a bit sluggish and unmotivated today frown.gif muddy and slick in spots above 4800', but beginning at 4500', there were sizeable huckleberries that actually tasted good!

My crew was out today (scott w/ our 2 labs) with some friends (todd & emily) while I nursed my knee at home but they mentioned some guy going by lickity split, guessing it was you. They forgot their camera, but I captured the end of their adventure hungry.gif banana pancakes

Yes, I can see that, since you didn't do it twice. Also, that's not even 50' vertical/minute on the ascent. shakehead.gif Just out of curiosity, how fast do you usually do Granite?

uhh.gif And you even had time to stop and eat, as well as Seattle style gridlock on the trail... turning in a mediocre one hour twenty min ascent. uhh.gif Good thing we don't test for performance enhancing drugs here @ nwhikers. ( jfwu) That is a great trail for berries.

Ebrace life!

Hey I-ron. The more hard core guys around here the better. You can join the likes of Randy, Stefan, Tom S., and the Wonder Twins (don't forget Dicey) as the over achievers of NWH.

I did Granite a few years ago on October 2nd, and the colors were outstanding. I'm glad you got to enjoy them today, too. I'm not even going to say anything about your "Sluggish" time. shakehead.gif huh.gif

The slow and lazy is an oxymoron!! This guy can probably do Adams South Spur in under 5 hours. Iron, you should head there next weekend if the weather is decent. There are no crevasses on the route. Seriously you could do it easily in half our time in September. It is worth the gas money and the permit. Check out our trip report. up.gif up.gif

Oh yeah I forgot to add this but you are also as good at photography as you are fast on the trail. Great pictures, especially considering the very adverse conditions you had to go through. up.gif up.gif up.gif
