I know nothing about mushrooms, but I'm seeing a lot of interesting ones recently. Any identification help would be appreciated.
On Change Creek trail (off I-90 near North Bend)
?
On Rainy Creek trail (MFK)
White mushroom (maybe Amanita or Lepiota?) rises to beat the winter snows Mycena haematopus. It's called the "blood-foot mushroom" because, when you cut the stipe a red bloodlike latex oozes out.

puzzlr, that 2nd one looks like a puffball; the purple one has made several appearances this year; violet cort. Yours is the best pic we have on this site so far.

cool pictures, the tall one with white gills looks like either a species of Amanita or a Lepiota. need to see the top of the cap and/or base of the stem to tell.
your violet cort looks more like Cortinarius violaceus than C. iodes (the species in the link).
I would guess the orange/brown ones with viscid caps growing on wood are a species of Pholiota.
and the little reddish ones look like Mycenas, probably M. haematopus or something similar...
nice chants

I love this site, somebody knows everything.
Thanks mhutch -- based on the fact that it's not viscous, I think you're right about the purple one.
I wish I had known about the "blood foot" part -- I could have tested that aspect of the identification.

Pest - how come when I click on the picture of you with the broken wrists, I get a different picture up on my screen? Looks like some guy with a beard trying to get away from the camera, and it looks like it was taken at a coffee shop?

Spring has officially arrived at a secret location near Blewett Pass. Trillium and lilies were in bloom but very little else...EXCEPT FOR THESE TASTY TREATS:
Yum My precious The fairy ring to end all fairy rings
That fairy ring has to be record setting for numbers of morels in one location.

I'm a baby killer. I honestly didn't know that it's siblings were attached.
What 2 baby morels look like.
