Not gloating this weekend. No super special spring fungi have sprouted in my super secret places. Maybe further south towards Oregon. I give it another two weeks. Especially after this week of nice warm weather.

We're finding morels, east side of the mountains at about 2300 ft. Only in clearcuts or other sunny places, though. None in the woods yet.

Didn't know how lucky we were until we went back today, thinking we'd score some more boletes. All we got were shaggy manes! Nothing much out there at all--we'll try again next week.

Wow! Did you find it on the west side of the mountains, or the east side? Looks like things are starting to pop where you're at.

Just got home from picking Chants with Dad. 8 gallons in under an hour. Kinda a slow day.

From a couple of weeks ago. Finally. Very few nematodes. It was a magical slope, very dark with dappled sun. All the usual spots were so so this year. Finally got enough to dry. Thanksgiving stuffing for sure.

Cool--you found the morel mother lode. We did just okay with morels this year, not nearly as many as last year. But the boletes! Wow, we're finding them every time we go out. Spring kings and also the white king boletes.

No gloating as numbers were small. Over the last two weeks been finding some mushrooms out there. Hedgehogs, puffballs and pigs ears at MRNP. Bears head in the Blues. Bears head, white and black chanterelles, admirable boletes, shaggy manes, all up the Icicle... Now for some rain and a look see around for more....

found lots of chanterelles already last week, same place as last year. But where are the King Boletes? I've checked our usual spots, no luck yet. Usually start finding these in August.
