Yesterday I took a hike up to the former site of the Lookout on Dirty Face. Wenatchee was fully engulfed by inversion for the last several days, which typically robs me of motivation so I wasn't in any hurry. The trailhead was also below the clouds, but I quickly got above them on the way up. It was incredibly warm given the time of year and elevation, and there has been a lot of snowmelt since last weekend.
Here are some pictures, most consisting of looking down on the inversion clouds (hey I was glad to get some sun):

Those are gorgeous photos. We did this trip a few days ago and there was nothing but fog. You probably saw our prints in the snow. I wish we could have got the views you have captured so beautifully.

Thanks Bad Dog. The small portion of the trail that was still covered with snow was packed down and easy traveling, I didn't even have to get out the gaitors.

Nice pics kyle, I remember doing that trip early spring a few years back, the snow was so deep it was like walking up a ball.

Nice place to be under such beautiful conditions! Dirtyface can be a hot slog in the summer.

Great pics, I've been up in that area so many times and never been all the way to the top of DirtyFace. Maybe if this winters snow holds off I can make it up there in the next week or so. Thanks for the awesome pics.

Friggin awesome shots. Holy sh*t, yesterday was a good day. Snowmelt has been incredibly fast with the ground still warm and a pineapple express. You've been getting out often

Love the islands in the clouds photos.
That's one of my favorite perspectives on the mountains - summits sticking out of a sea of clouds.

I was nearby on a run that morning. When we popped above the clouds - looking down at Natapoc and over toward Dirtyface - it was jaw-dropping. I wished I had a camera.
... So thanks for those awesome pics! I agree that the view of hilltops floating above the sea of clouds is one of the best perspectives gained from hiking in the hills.

kyled, what a great bunch of shots! The first 6 are incredible, followed by more....a treasure of 20 shots. The several times I went up Dirtyface, I don't recall such great views...but, the weather was sort of "smudgy" (in my memory). You truly scored big time! Several of your shots are "iconic" and maybe among the best I have seen on nwhikers....and, that is saying a lot...there are so many, many great shots displayed! Also, I like the "riff" you have when off on B & W of the scenes....truly irresistible.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I was very glad I overcame my initial impulses to just stay in for the day, as it turned out great and I felt much better afterword.

Sunday was a great day for some close in mountain flying in the Puget Sound area. The low blanket of fog/clouds made for some sweet views. (Kyles pics are much cooler!)
