Since I'm in a bah-humbug mood over missing the social I thought I'd start this thread. Here is a resource if you need inspiration. We leave our radio on if we are going to be gone for a while. After coming home from attempting to drive to the social, we came throught the door to be greeted by Barbara Striesand singing "My favorite things" eck.gif . Yuck, we couldn't run to the stereo fast enough to turn it off. *On a side note David Bowie and Bing Crosby singing "Little Drummer Boy" is probably my favorite Christmas song.

Anything stated by me in no way reflects the attitudes or opinions of my wife

For the most part, I really enjoy Christmas music, for the memories associated with it and the beauty of some of the old carols. I even have one favorite Christmas CD in my car all the time. BUT...I have to say that I can't stand the Carol of the Bells. Every time I hear it I feel like I'm in the middle of some bad dream with a lousy score. And, unfortunately, my hubby really likes it... hockeygrin.gif Oh well, to each his own!

Oh the awful grating voices of Spike Jones songs, particularly My Birthday Comes on Christmas, and All I want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth...ah that whistling is SOOOO annoying.

I leave only footprints...and lens caps. http://weekendswithmarmots.zenfolio.com

These Are Special Times 1998 Céline's first-ever collection of holiday songs, 'These Are Special Times' is a collaboration of extraordinary talents, including duets with R. Kelly and Andrea Bocelli, plus the virtuoso production work of Céline's longtime partners David Foster and Ric Wake. Keeping it special, Céline is joined by her family on "Feliz Navidad," and "Les cloches du hameau." frown.gif :guninmouth:

What gets me is when someone takes a perfectly good maybe even beautiful carol and totally destroys it by slowing it down/speeding it up/bee-bopping it/jazzing it up or otherwise just screwing up the basic premise. down.gif

All of them, you can only take so much before you want to start banging your head against the wall.

"Christmas Shoes" carefully calculated in both music and words to make you cry. I object to such manipulation and the song now just angers me. rant.gif

While there are many on my "Hate" list, the two which first came to mind: Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas Time":
Dr. Elmo's "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer":
Songs not on my "Hate" list are annoying when stores (including grocery outlets) start playing them days after Halloween.

I agree. I used to go turn the radio off when that grotty thing came on. On the other hand, the New Christy Minstrels' version of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" is one of my favorites. Back on the least favorite theme, "Run, run, Rudolph" is right down there competing for the bottom. And, in general, what Sten said

Unfortunately, that applies to the vast majority of carols done by pop artists. They almost all think they have to "personalize" the song, but it never helps.

Something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you....... Go and find it. Go!
