I credit TNAB for saving my sanity. My daytime hikes pretty much disappeared when I had kids, but the trips Mark organized kept me in the mountains and introduced me to a ton of new friends. Thanks so much, Mark! A few more picts from Thursday night:

Well done, Mark, and thanks so much for making me feel comfortable in TNAB! Looking forward to getting back in (and in back of) the TNAB line soon with Steve, Chris, and Josie in the lead! Happy holidays all!

You must be very very confused! Thanks for the vote of confidence but unless I grow long legs I won't be leading this rag tag crew of speed racers. I may get to the summit, but I am the tortoise to TNABs hare!

Isn't it the leader's job to make sure everyone gets out ok? Sounds like a job that can only be done from the back of the pack. agree.gif

Well said, Moosefish. Josie can be the "sweeper", making sure everyone is out. agree.gif smile.gif

As the official TNAB buzzkill, It's my job to say, TNAB is not a hiking group or club. They do not provide instruction, rescue or guide services. It is social group whose members enjoy hiking and often carpool to an agreed destination. You are on your own, they do not wait and it is not a place to learn. There is no set route but most follow someone who has been there before. There is no designated rear guard or sweep. We get by on brute strength and experience. If you want instruction and a responsible leader please contact a guide service or join the Mountaineers they have insurance. That being said it is ageat group of folks and we try to look out for our own.

"You do not laugh when you look at the mountains, or when you look at the sea." Lafcadio Hearn

Very true, MC. Thanks for the clarification. agree.gif Anyone who decides to hike with us should bring their own maps, have studied the route to the destination, know if they are capable of making the destination in 2 hrs, feel comfortable hiking solo in the dark and able to stay out on their own overnight if they aren't able to make it back to the trailhead. Great times but everyone IS responsible for their own safety. There are NO leaders.

It helps if you date one of the nonleaders. You'll never get left behind. wink.gif Not that anyone has ever been left behind. That we know of ... huh.gif

Wait, isn't that how all this craziness started? A guy wanted to meet a girl who could also race up a mountain?
