Trip Report on AlpineTarn.net Yesterday was a great day spent with the family (and 500 other Washingtonians) at Twin Falls State Park. For those of you who have never been to Twins Falls, it's a nice little hike alongside the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. As the trails winds and switchbacks, it gains a cumulative 1,300 feet. Along the way it crosses some sublime waterfalls on this 4.2 mile RT out-and-back hike. Since I had been there previously with Cascade (on her first hike as a pup) and with TNAB (on my first hike with them) I thought it might make another good set of firsts... Bruce's first hike - check. Cascade's first hike since tendon surgery last year - check. Susie's first hike since finding out we were pregnant last year on Valentine's Day - check. First hike as a proud father with my family - check. First time in a while that I forgot to change the ISO at the trailhead (I shot the first half of the hike at 1600 hence the grain - but oh well) - check (I think). Some crappy high-noise pics shot at ISO 1600 but worth the documentation value nonetheless:

Layback I did see you on th trail! I remember because your cute kid's bright PJs and your dog. My friend and I made a comment along the lines of "Oh what a cute dog" and "I want to get a dog again." It sure was a nice day to get out there! Congrats on all the first "Hikes checklist"!

Hey thanks man. I saw a few people with cameras that looked familiar and I wondered if any of them were NWHikers. I'm sure I saw you also. Thanks for the kind words.

Congrats to ALL of you! dance.gif So is Cassie back to 100% now? You've had a long year without your hiking partners!

Nice family pictures! up.gif up.gif I was out there too with the kids, but I did not see either Obi or LB and family. I did see Moosefish and his babes, but they live around the corner, so that is not unusual. We were there from 11a to 1230p. And yes, there were over 100 cars when we left.

Yeah - she's back but not quite 100%. Our goal is to get out on hikes like this one once a week and build up that leg's muscle some more. Her tendon is 100% but the muscles need to beef up, according to the PT in the family. Yeah - last year I got a lot of climbing in - probably my most fruitful year in the Cascades, but I sure didn't do much hiking. It's tough when you don't have your buddies. This year ought to be a good one in that regard, though there probably won't be a lot of overnights...

Bummer - we missed you by a few hours. We hit the trail at 2:15 (after a quick feeding) and were back on the road at 4:15. It's a shame I didn't get to say hi to any of you. One of these days we need to do a NWHikers "family hike".

My boys and I were also there today from 1-4. We hiked in from the exit 38 trailhead and also went to Ollalie state park. I've seen the waterfalls before but I was impressed most by the little old growth that still remains in this park in North Bend. A couple of Spruce really caught my eye.

That sounds like a really fun way to do the hike (from exit 38). Man there were so many kids there yesterday. It looks like yours got some good swim time in. up.gif
