I am kinda new to all of this and I was wondering if there is a place around Seattle or online that sells Backpacker Pantry food for a good deal. Let me know where you get you freeze dried food. Thanks.

Not that you will ever get a good deal price wise on freeze-dried but REI does carry their line. You may well do better just ordering online though - more selection. Oddly once in awhile on Costco.com they will have deals on sets of meals by the various brands. Usually a "weeks" worth. If you have to have commercial meals, may I suggest visiting www.packitgourmet.com - their meals are miles above anything else out there commercially made. Yes, they sometimes cost a tiny bit more. But they don't taste freeze-dried, are often not salt bombs and really, really taste good. (And have real ingredients in them!) To which I will add, they were given a BP Magazine Gear Editors Award this year smile.gif

I like Backpackers Pantry too & you can order from them directly. Last year they were selling from their website for about half the price that REI does.

REI has been bumping up the prices on a lot of the meals - I do reviews of commercial meals often on my blog - and price wise REI gouges. There was one recently, a Mary Janes Farm meal that was $9.25 at REI but less than $8 on MJ's site!

Buying food at REI is kind of like buying running shoes at Nordstroms huh.gif

Gee, you don't? lol.gif I have a tiny GSI folding table I carry at times (OK, I don't carry it on 18 mile days! But short hikes, heck yeah). I know I get grief on the picnic tables in the videos (every one has me using one), the hubbies video gear weighs a ton. In Season 2009 which we are shooting currently, I did make him hike with all the gear - he finally got a backpack just for large pro HD cameras. So not as many picnic tables clown.gif
