We had to be near Ebey's for a birthday party so took a couple hours to detour over there. It's quite a nostalgic place for me as we used to go there several times a winter. It's a lovely area with miles of beach plus a loop trail comprised of bluff and beach. The loop takes about 1.5 hours to complete, but should you want to make a day of it you can walk further on the beach and/or go to explore Ft. Casey - a 10 minute drive and/or do some trails in the lovely Deception Pass area. From Ebey's you have great views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier, the Cascades, and the Olympics - not to mention the gorgeous sea. My father used to find a lot of agates on that beach, but it's much too well used for that now probably. It was pretty busy on a gorgeous Sunday. If you can't get parking by the beach, there is another lot back from the bluff, and you can connect to the beach/bluff via Ebey's Prairie Trail. I actually got my husband out with me today!! up.gif

I think Ebeys Landing is a great place to test a new camera. There are so many wonderful subjects, from the sound and mountain views, to the cactus, birds and wildlife, and the lagoon. From panos to macros, there is something for every lens you care to drag around. If you like to take pictures, this is a Wa. must see place.

It looks like a warm summer day there. Nice photos. A trivial historical note: Colonel Ebey was in a command of a fort on the Southern end of Ebey Island on the Snohomish River. I've looked for any remains of it but the floods and farmland have erased it.
