March 29, 2009 (sorry for the delay, been backlogged on the TRs): GeoTom, Jasper, Dicey, Schmidt Altitude and the whippets joined me for a double summit in the Blewett Pass area: Very nice change of pace in the weather, going from Winter Storm Warning/Avalanche Danger the day before to 45° and pure blue skies. Interesting terrain on the ridge run up to Serpentine, then mixed with some road walking over to the final ridge of Iron Mountain. Wished for the snowmobile ride on the way back out. Instead we bypassed Serpentine and dropped lower on the hillside to make it more interesting on the return.

I'm guessing Iron Mountain (Blewett) != Iron Peak (Teanaway)?

Iron Mountain is farther east. Two similar names in the Teanaway area. Iron Mountain is between Miller and Three Brothers.

Yes, about 8-10 miles beyond Blewett/Swauk pass towards Wenatchee. Here's the GPS track. A few miles east of Miller Peak.

Lots of great pictures, Yukon! agree.gif It was nice to have such beautiful weather for what had looked to be a dismal forecast. The glissading was also surprisingly good. cool.gif

up.gif Snow conditions look nice. I've often thought of going in and doing Three Brothers from Blewett for the wintry views.

I've been working out lately. I'm glad you noticed. wink.gif It was fun to help dad and the others with their glissading. Hopefully there will be more of that this year.
