Lets just say between Vegas and LA, they absolutely destroy the Colorado River.

Given the wealth of recent trip reports down south I'll add to Jim's report instead of creating a new one. Our original plan was to spend a few nights at the Grand Canyon but the weather did not cooperate (wet and cold) so we opted for Zion instead. Spent one night in Springdale and drove around the park the next day before heading back to Vegas to catch a flight. Can't believe we've been to Vegas so many times and never took the time to drive Zion. Definitely worth it, though it would have been nice to stay a few more days to get some hikes in. A few pictures (all from the car and/or park shuttle).

Very nice Tom! Beautiful country. I felt shorted on the hikes during my visit there too. I definitely have reason to go back.

Excellent pictures Jim! Somehow I missed this thread. Nice light on Court of the Patriarchs. I had a forest fire nearby during our visit, which diffused the light considerably. I really like your choice of the river as the foreground. Also, nice work on Angel's Landing! We ran out of time for this hike during our visit. A reason to return!

Awesome! I'm heading there Wednesday as a detour from San Diego to Salt Lake City. The pictures are gorgeous, I can't wait.

Found this great aerial shot of Zion on Google Earth. There original can be viewed here. Panoramio doesn't allow remote linking so here's a resized version for labeling purposes. Map tool for comparison.
Amazing how different Zion looks from above. The aerial shot also provides a goo perspective of how water eroded the uplifted plateau over millions of years and formed the canyon walls below.

Thanks Tom. That's the first time I've got a good feel for Zion. It's a good photo too.

Thanks for the link to those pictures (and the labels) Tom, that is a great perspective.
One more from our trip, this is one of my wife's favorites:
