this is one of my favorite local hikes close to town with many variations and at 4-5 miles packs some neat stuff. take 7 mile road towards the orv area. just before the orv turn off, turn north onto state park dr (easy to miss) its a short distance to the parking area for deep creek canyon over look. at the lot go to the south end and pick up the unmarked trail down hill to a dry creek bed

Cool. Never thought I'd see that hike on here. That is a good one; so close, too. My favorite part of that area is the narrow canyon that Deep Creek flows through. Never been there this early in the season, so maybe Deep Creek is actually flowing above ground at this point, making the canyon inaccessible. Every time I've been there, though, the creek is below the surface and you can walk the whole canyon from the parking lot down to the river. Very cool. At some places, the canyon must be no more than 40 feet wide. Lots of crazy rock formations that climbers frequent.
