Nice way to spend a day in the mountains -- with friends.
Hard to believe that's the same place as in puzzler's calendar submission. That was my first time hearing about this peak, and I didn't realize it was in the I-90 area. Thanks for the TR, I'll add it to my might-do list.

Ah, so that stink on Cap Hill at dinnertime on Saturday wasn't from the sewers... it was just Putridnwhikers returning home.
Fun TR!

If you look close in the first picture you can see Jasper's black splotch on his right side, and me wearing a green shirt. That day was a little nicer as far as views.
The small photo (located in the summit 'register' box), is of Pete Schoening.

I guess the story behind that picture is that we're all sitting on the summit...dicey took the photo...I'm holding a picture of Putrid Pete (there's a yellow waterproof box up there with a register, pic of Pete and a book of poetry on the summit). Pete's friends and family put it up there.
Putrid Pete is none other than Pete Schoening, a well-known American mountain climber, who among others notable achievements, saved 5 ropemates on the 1953 American K2 expedition (see the link).
EDIT: looks like Speedy McGeo answered your question...I'll leave mine up though for posterity.

Now one has to ask the obvious question: why would they call an amazing man like Pete Schoening "Putrid"?
Pete's last name closely resembles the german word schoen (schön) and schoenling means a beautiful and attractive person.
Go figure!
Here's anther pic of Putrid Pete. Is this really Pete Schoening?

What a report of the foulest nature. Truly a rancid trip. The tainted souls who went through torture to attain this peak should be malodorous indeed by now.
(Awesome report !)
