So another one of my patented late starts today, same as last weekend, 2 PM. Decided for a less painful hike than Oyster Dome and heading for the Rattlesnake Ledges seemed to fit the bill, 4mi RT just under 1200ft of gain.
A quick phone call to wish my Dad a Happy B-day (who's no hiker slouch himself: Grand Canyon - Rim to Rim to Rim, 6 times, usually in Aug, yea my Dad goes Epic )
Hit the trail by 2:10 and it's pretty gentle grade all the way up. Was several shed sized boulders along the trail, hope no one was around when these came down
Big a$$ boudler
Trail was very busy with both human and canine travelers. I am surprised the trail is so narrow for such a Supertrailway that Rattlesnake is. Found myself having to pull off to the side very frequently to allow people to pass. Reached the lower ledge about 3:15. Very crowded, maybe 30 people at the most, but I was still able to work in a few pics while up there. Enjoyed about 45 minutes at the ledge, was thinking about checking out the middle and upper ledges but decided to head back down to get home and cook dinner. Few pics I took:
MFK Snoqualmie Mt Si and North Bend Small sample of the crowds up there and MFK Snoq. again Looking back at the middle and upper ledges with North Bend The new Rattlesnake Lake Memorial swinmming pool (NOTE: I did not play with the color on this pic, this was how it came off the camera) Looking to the South into Green Valley "I've heard of nose bleed seats before but this is rediculous!" 1 label Cedar Butte, Mt Washington and McClellan Butte Lake was down so much you could walk across the lake bed back to the cars
This was a pretty good hike for me, as usual the first time I've been here. Felt pretty strong all the way, never really got tired and my legs are definetly not sore like they were after Oyster Dome. Will definetly re-visit and try the traverse of the entire ridge.

Thanks for sharing R2S.
Fantastic moody clouds and I've never seen Rattlesnake looking so awesome!

*LOVE* the cloud shots.
"Looking back at the middle and upper ledges with North Bend" it's like the mountain sprouted some wings. Beautiful work Rich.
