Shred and I spent Memorial day weekend cruising around The Forbidden Tour in the North Cascades. Not the best downhill skiing (mostly touring and traversing with a big pack) but the scenery can't be beat. If we would have been more ambitious we could have done some very challenging side trips, but just doing the tour plus Eldorado at the end was enough for me.
Our Forbidden Tour
Day One:
touring up into Boston Basin John skis from Sharkfin Col Sunrise on Johannesberg from bivy below Sharkfin Col
Day Two:
climb to Sharkfin Col rap from col Skiing Quien Sabe Glacier Mt. Buckner in background Climbing to the NE ridge of Forbidden Skiing Forbidden glacier Climb out of Morain Lake Skiing Inspiration glacier Sunset on Eldorado
Day 3:
sunrise from bivy south of Klawatti 9 labels Sunrise looking back at Forbidden from Klawatti Johannesberg & Glacier Peak sunrise on Eldorado Climbers on Klawatti Myself and Jeff on the summit of Eldorado Skiing off Eldorado's summit Skiing Eldorado NE face negotiating a bit of alder down the Eldorado trail

We were wondering where that traverse went. We saw you guys from afar a few times.

Excellent images Jim! I especially like Eldorado from the Klawatti vicinity - a favorite area of mine. Your light was much better than I had.
How was the Morraine Lake up close, and the difficulty climbing out of it?
Finally, might those "Climbers on Klawatti" be NWHikers?

Beautiful images. Kept seeing you on the weekend and wishing I was on my skis. Was thinking about you guys with skis and boots hanging out with the scrub and then the narrow tree notches on the way down.

Very nice! You always post such quality images, no matter where you go. That sunrise shot of Johannesberg is not an easy one with the high contrast of light and shadow. Bravo!

Don, the lake was easy to ski acoss still well frozen, although I was glad to get off it. Climbing out of the hole is tricky, but not hard - just some scrambling up loose gravely slopes for about a hundred feet to a snow covered bench that you traverse over to the Inspiration glacier (as per Volken's guide).
Karen, I under exposed the shots on the Johannesburg sunrise a couple stops, but the summit was still a bit too bright, so a touch of lowering the highlights in the highlights and shadows adjuster in Photoshop did the trick.

Looks like a stellar weekend. Fabulous photos as always. I really like the perspective you used in "Skiing Inspiration glacier".

It seems like when you can ski there are no boundaries -- I'd love to be that mobile.

Gorgeous photos, Jim.
I especially like the hues of the sunset and sunrise photos of Eldorado.
