Drove to about .5 mile of the trail head. Hiking shoes were worn up into Wirtz basin. The logs at the second stream crossing have been tossed aside, so we had to go up stream searching for a way across. John, Gordy, and I went higher than necessary, while Craig and Spike found a clever route up down and around rocks and logs.

Clouds kept the temps and snow reasonable, although the top was a bit slurpee like, and pollen slowed things down lower.

Wow! John was right, We have lost a lot of snow down low with these summer like temps.
I reckon we better get our butt's over to Sheep Gap soon, if we want to skin into Gothic Basin...

Tazz~ If you are looking for a weekday partner to go in to Vesper, I am game!

Another nice set of pics Jim (as always)!

That's the first time I've ever seen anyone boulder with skis on their back.  FAWS (first ascent with skis)?

We were looking at you from Whitehorse.  It was a fine weekend.
