Just back from hike to Tomyhoi. Trail clear until about half mile below the junction with Yellow Aster Butte. After that snow until just below the saddle. Trail to Aster Butte, looks snowed in, but a few boots have beaten a path. Valley where Tomyhoi lies is completely snowed in. No safe path from the pass yet. Its very steep and snow covered.
I almost considered the descent until I studied it from a different angle. I forgot how steep that is! Kind of reminds me of the pass above Ingalls Creek on Stuart.
Tried doing this last summer and couldn't really find a trail around the lake. It was mostly wading through a stream bed and then bush wacking. It was pea soup fog so we weren't to stoked to find our own route. I hear there is space to camp down there though?
The descent down is rather gnarly. No way I'd try it until the snow was gone.
