Got Jeanette out for a dayhike up to Goat Peak above Mazama Thursday, the trail was in good condition and wildflowers were plentiful along the entire route to the lookout which was manned by "Lightning Bill" and his two dogs. It was mostly cloudy, and in the 50's with a light wind, just right for hiking. We avoided any rain the entire trip. Stopped at Three Fingered Jacks Saloon for some burgers and onion rings, hit the gear shop, and left with a couple espresso milkshakes.

Silver Star looks awesome from that vantage point. While camping at Burgundy Col last week and looking over at Goat Mtn, I thought about hiking there with my wifey. You beat me to it, Rob.

Love it! One of my favorite family hikes. Next time hit the Boulder Creek Deli for some screaming sandwiches. up.gif Please don't tell my wife there are bears in the woods around there! paranoid.gif

We were up there the day before with the grand kids and here's a pic of "Lightning Bill". No bear though. frown.gif

On the 9th we had a violent thunderstorm with lots of lightning about 6:00 PM and several trees went down in the yard with the wind. What time did you get down?
