ragman's TR on this hike has his usual excellent stats and b00's TR from his hike the weekend before contains beta on an alternate route, so I'll just add a few comments and throw up my usual too few pics. The trail has been cleared up until Big Caroline Lake. From there to Little Caroline there are multiple blow downs that are easily navigable. We contemplated taking a shortcut from the lake up the valley we later descended, but with the limited visibility decided to stay on trail to Windy Pass. The rocky ridge might have been tough to navigate in the fog, but madman's experience with the trail kept us on track. The terrain itself was fun to traverse with just a few snow patches to cross/ascend. Due to the exposure and limited space on the summit, we took turns up there. And like b00, we never found the register. Not much else to report... the flowers were beautiful between Little Eight Mile Lake and Big Caroline Lake, but are not yet in full glory at Windy Pass. Encountered only a few skeeters around the various lakes. And though we were disappointed not to have any summit views this day, it was an excellent hiking temperature and to my hot-weather-wimpy body it was great not to have to deal with heat during the climb. True northwest 'atmosphere' on the ascent biggrin.gif plus views on the descent, with a wide variety of terrain during both, meant another great hike with 'the mans' mad, lar, rod and rag. A good solid day of hiking with some excellent scrambling, but until my quads acted up on me at Saturday's hike up Big Jim (ouch!), I had trouble believing we did 16.5 miles and 6107 feet elevation gain. It just never felt like that much that day. Some pics to fill in the blanks:

Nice trip and photos, that fat ridge would make a nice spot to put a tent up facing Stuart and company.
