We left Seattle very early and arrived at Sunrise before sunrise The moon was bright and provided nice predawn illumination as we started this quick hike. It was cool spotting the headlamps of climbers on route.
Early light.

Daylight, it was good.

On the way out.

Good times, lots of goats around. ZERO people on the trail that early, counted three hikers starting out near the parking lot. There were lots of cars heading up when we left, must have been busy later in the day.
Almost ran over a marmot that was hanging out in the middle of the road. Crazy marmots.

Sweet! I'm happy to go early or late and avoid the park fee.

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

I tried to get up early today but didn't leave the house till 5:30, I missed the sunrise @ sunrise. But I love to do that! I was on the other side at Shriner peak. Tons of people... you picked a good one! How's the snow looking at Berkely park?

Hey janwalker, driving home I was almost surprised to see all the cars parked in the lot for Shriner Peak. I did that hike 5 years ago on a sunny saturday like today and there was only a few groups of hikers on the trail.
Also, I'm not exactly sure where Berkeley Park is, but there was very minimal snow on the trail to the lookout.

I like your first Rainier pano Detekt - very nice! I love getting up there for sunrise as well. Looks like you picked a fabulous morning!
Oh, and Berkeley Park would have been at your feet (valley below) to the west from the lookout. Very nice flowers in season, with tumbling Lodi Creek also very scenic.

Took my son out to Skyscraper today. Beautiful day and we saw exactly 3 people between the summit and Frozen Lake.
