Just a ramble 8 miles or so up Buck Creek trail from Trinity, to the obvious way trail heading up to the basin below Pass No Pass. I camped at Pass No Pass. There is only one spot left where you have to scramble over logs using your hands. Theres no easy detour, you just have to clamor over them. One large log and two medium ones together. Look for pieces of a plastic bag someone put up to show the way. But you really just keep going straight or straight and a little left when the trail is obscured by the avalanche debris (on your way up). (this spot is before the place the trail makes its one big switch back as it gains elevation above buck creek) The contractors have cleared every other spot to where you dont really have to climb over anything, though there are a few logs to step over in places. It's amazing how much snow is left under the avalanche debris. I saw the trail guys up there with their horses. I told them about the one spot left where you have to crawl over logs. They will probably get to that in the next week. Lots of bugs up there, all the way up to Pass No Pass (the waytrail going towards Pass No Pass is about 8 miles up the buck creek trail, where it turns left at the head of the drainage). The flowers are in peak form up higher! Lupine paintbrush and all the rest. The lingering snow has made for a persistent flower show. There is water at many places across Buck creek trail all the way up to the 8 mile point. There is a big snowfield in the basin below Pass No Pass, that will not be gone before September. Here is a link to the gallery of all the shots. I dont know why, but clicking on the thumbs below doesn't go there! I wouldn't use the link code that ImageShack generates. Just use the img tags along with the .jpg of the file. Example:

I did it right with the first pic in my post; I dont know what I did different with all those other thumbnails. The ones you posted go to the giant version of the pic. The first one I posted (of the snow on the trail) goes to good sized one that opens up to where you see the text of the post too. How do I do that again? I did it with the first pic somehow but dont know how.

Yeah, I usually resize before posting. Posting/displaying original pictures is just a little unwieldy. Besides most people don't want to see a huge version of your pictures unless they want to "steel" them for use in print.

I didnt resize the one of the snow under avalanche debris, and it opens up to a good viewing size. Maybe the auto setting on the camera made it smaller. The others were uploaded full size. But those links above each thumbnail in the original post go to a viewable-size version, that can be clicked on to see full size. There must be a way to add thumbnails that go to viewable size picks. Besides resizing them all. I guess I need to buckle down and learn how it all works. Dammit Mike, I'm a Wilderness Correspondent, not a pc guru! Thanks Mike

<grin> No worries. I think the problem that you're fighting against is the fact that we're set up to do local thumbnailing of the images, so clicking on the thumbnailed image that we're displaying here links to the "full-size" image of the thumbnail, NOT the offsite URL that ImageShack is trying to specify. Moreover, the even bigger problem is that images that are smaller than a certain size don't display properly when trying to view the "full-size" image. Since those thumbnails are smaller than the minimum size, you get the "attachment does not exist anymore message". So, long story short, resize your images to a reasonable size before uploading and then use links to the .jpg files (not the other pages) on the remote site. (also, note that the one link of yours that worked was using a different form in the URL than all the other links)

Wow, so your thinking that the trail will be cleared in the next week or two, that's amazing given the pics from previous posts.

I think the remaining really annoying spot between the Buck crk trailhead and the turn off to Pass No Pass will be cleared within a week or so. The only spot where I had to use my hands to get over some logs. The three I mentioned. What other people mean by "cleared" may be something different. Other than that spot, I found the trail to be in comfortable shape. Now the bugs, thats another story.....
