here's some pics and a vid to start my virtual hiking days a la nwhikers... time to join the fray. It is afterall two thousand and, uh, nine - already! - a fine year indeed. And a fine hike it was though I did want to just hang in the lookout like a lazy mountain goat for another day... as it was this all took place in under 24 hrs. Much too fast for the abundant splendor that is Three Fingers. But there were kids to pick up and such... obligations? no, love! Love travels in many directions... though I have to admit, there was no love for Mt. Daniels in a day, the original pitch, to which I countered with this. I rarely do the same hike twice, but I knew that after coming here for the first time several years ago, that I would be back. I still have (unfulfilled) visions of candles, whiskey, and all night poker up in that scrappy little perch, so I guess I'll be back... not to mention a small beef I have yet to settle with a particularly arrogant nylon munching rodent up there... I have plans.
Erik, as always, was a pleasure to hike with. He had the forethought to pack his Keen sandals for which I am keenly grateful for as I did half the hike in them, relieving an increasingly irritated ankle from the confines of my boots. Thanks!
As for the snow, vertigo et al., stay low, stay loose is the mantra universalis. That's it for stats, Erik covered it well - here's some more pics -
