Ditto. Works great. Alcohol rinse also works for drying. Vodka?
agree.gif agree.gif for shorter periods good old chlorinated tap water works fine. if a nasty slime does manage to build up I use 5-Star PBW (usually used for cleaning fermenters and wort boilers).

For long term storage you might pour a lot of salt into the bladder, then shake it around to get the salt in all the nooks and crannies. The salt will soak up the water and make the environment tough for mold growth. Don't forget to rinse the camelback before using, unless you like the taste of salt water.

I have kept my camelback bladder in the refrigerator for months without any sign of gunk appearing. I also like to mix in some fresh squeezed lemon juice which is not only good for you but also helps to keep the water fresh. Also a little vodka should also help to kill any unwanted bacteria.

Go placidly amid the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.

I put a paper towel inside to keep the sides separated. Then I let it dry out on in the hot sun all day. I store it with the paper towel still separating the sides.

This is good stuff, I usually practice the, "rinse it out and throw it on a shelf" technique. My bladders are pretty gross, but they haven't killed me yet... embarassedlaugh.gif

I hang mine opening down with a clothespin to drip, then opening up to get the last of the stuff to evaporate. It takes a couple days. I like that aquarium pump idea -- fine example of "applied junque."
