Figured I would try something on the other side of Chinook Pass now that its opened. I was hoping being east of the crest and the stuff I had read about this being one that melted out early were correct.. Not quite.
We decided to just camp it out the night before near trailhead.. Surpisingly found a great spot near the river with not another camper in sight; I'll keep that in mind on future busy holiday weekends.
The trail itself is in pretty good shape.. Handful of blowdowns with only really one you have to put much effort in to get around, I estimate we were in consistent snow at around 5500 ft and we trudged pretty far up the ridge but decided to call it a day after we got some good views and peaking out at around 6300 ft.
