I try to get out for 1 or 2 nights solo every year. The funny thing is, at first I feel like the sliding off my self-inflating mattress (slight slope), bugs, etc., are no fun, the moment I return to 'civilization', the instant I realize what an unparalleled great experience I had!

Nice work. I only get out on a solo trip once a year. They honestly scare me but that's just because my mom didn't leave the light on at night 
Great work! Fun story.

Love the mouse sketch and the tent monster shot!
It is unfortunate about your shorts - that happened to me on a recent trip also. Unfortunately, I was not solo so I think both of my hiking partners went temporarily blind. 
I don't know why hiking pants/shorts have that issue, I've heard of many similar incidents, but never with non-hiking pants.
