Late October 2015 I installed a high end trail camera up on the Silver Creek trail, will be retrieving it today. Almost 8 months of pictures taken at Noon each day, and motion activated as well -

Craig?? You're Mine Explorerr!! Lol! Should have known! When I got your camera for ya in late June, it was nice to see the snow season come and go. Unfortunately, not a single animal to be seen though... Maybe a different location? Skip Straight Up Mining Explorations

Resurrecting an old thread. I'm thinking of going up there this week and wknd. I'm hoping to find my way to Poodle Dog/Silver Lake and camp at Twin Lakes.

I'd be very interested in hearing about beyond Mineral City. Anyone been up there in the last few years?

For too many years I gazed at the Cascades and other mountains as they taunted me and I said "...Someday..." Now I find I'm running out of somedays...

I was up to Mineral City two years ago. All the bridges are gone now. One log was still across one of the ravines with a rope to help cross but it was pretty sketchy. Last time I was beyond was a few years prior to that. The trail was grown over pretty bad but was still there. I have come down from Silver Lake a ways towards mineral city. It was flagged but I didn't go all the way. I'm sure it can be done with a lot of brush beating. Do you have much experience with this area?

Hubbart Peak is in the general area and I ran into a nanny goat with two kids during my climb of it.

Come to think of it I have seen bear scat once on the washed out portion of Index-Galena Rd.

Thanks for the update. I really want to try to make that trek from Galena to PoodleDog Pass, but not this wknd, although I'm sorely tempted. I re-injured my back a few months ago, and I'm just now able to hike a bit. My wife wants me to have adult supervision, and my friends are either previously engaged or too smart to accompany me on one of my adventure treks. They like trails. I like being off the beaten path. I'll plan for later in September and hope for a stretch of nice days, and a friend to share the misery. Bushwhacking in the rain is 'fun' With my body at only 60% and being solo this week, I opted for less bushwhacking/ravine crossing while the foliage is still heavy and green. I'm planning on a couple days exploring an area special to me, northwest of Mt Stickney.

For too many years I gazed at the Cascades and other mountains as they taunted me and I said "...Someday..." Now I find I'm running out of somedays...

I've seen wildlife occasionally, and just a bit of sign.I think most of the gulch is just too steep for Yogi, but down near the water? Anywhere there's ripe mtn blueberry, there's gonna be plenty of Yogi piles. I think the brushy areas past Mineral City will have more.

I have seen goats above Silver Lake and deer hiking up to the cabin on the side of the hill. Probably don't see much because of the heavy brush down low. I am curious if the cabin is still there and if the Franklin Stove is still inside.
