Got new backcountry skis for my birthday and have been jonesing to try them out. Diligent study of the radar, forecasts, Sats, and web cams came up with Crystal and Stevens as best choices. I hate the Startup jam so Crystal it was. Left Quah late in a downpour. Mixed snow just above Enumclaw sticking by Crystal turnoff. Arriving at the area the skies cleared and the sun came out smile.gif The A lot was nearly full but it was mostly Ski Patrol practicing on the Bunny Lift for possible opening Wednesday..
Soon we were skinning up the hill in over a foot of new Powder with great views.
We continued on to the Campbell Basin Lodge and ate lunch under the stopped lift. By now we were starting to get cold and it was time for a quick run down. A couple of feet of pow pow where no body had skied or groomed.
By now it was snowing again and got off Crystal Road before dark great start to season. up.gif up.gif

Groovy! up.gif I passed my buddies' invitation for first turns this weekend. Things are setting up for a tour next weekend. Mal, what skis/bindings/boots did you get?

K2 Shuksan (last years), Dynafit Vertical and Dynafit TLT Evo from Sierra TP all worked great nearly as light as my Tele set up.

Lighter than most tele setup. up.gif Welcome to the Dynafiddle club. biggrin.gif I luv 'em. I switched from tele to AT 4 years ago and doubled my backcountry days.

Thanks for the report, snow looks great. Did you hit any rocks? I've got a very similar set-up (older skis) and love it.

No real rocks. There was a bare area/creek at the base of Bull Run where it always was. No dings but one hidden creek iced one of my skins just before Forest Queen Lift.
