An interesting note...
A little over a year ago Gracie died (Gracie's Meadow in MC).  I've done a few hikes with Squirrelgirl.  SHe was Gracie's best friend and now has piles of articles and photos from Gracies life in Monte Cristo.  Going through them was spellbinding.  SOme copies are in teh museum at teh Verlot RS.

Thanks for that info. fwb2.

I was up in Monte Cristo early this year and happened to go up to Peabody Rock. I sadly saw that someone has taken the Peabody's grave marker, pictured on the last page of A Broad Ledge of Gold.

I just came across this photo in the Sno-Isle Library - a perspective of Monte Cristo townsite I hadn't seen before

That is so cool.  Always one of my favorite places to visit/hike to.
I am just amazed at what that area looked like back then.  I did a annual
Halloween backpack trip up to M C when I lived on the north side.
Only thing I hated was not being able to filter water up there.

Thanks again Sir, have you ever found anything on the West Fork of the Miller river ?  And one mine off to the side of Big Four, the HooDoo mine.
